SEEKING SAFETY ABROAD

The Syrian conflict has displaced over half the country from their homes, either across borders or within their own country. Over 5 million people have fled Syria since 2011, the vast majority of whom are seeking safety in Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan.

The Syrian government has subjected tens of thousands of civilians, aid workers and peaceful activists to enforced disappearance.

This is to spread fear amongst the Syrian civilian population and punish people advocating for political change.

has responded to the conflict with bravery and resilience. Self-organised medics build underground hospitals to protect patients from the bombs, and volunteer rescue workers work to rescue trapped civilians.
