Oi oi happy campers!

I just wanted to write you a quick note to say have a wonderful Christmas and New Year this year! I am sorry I’ve been a bit quiet but I have (finally) found a producer and have been working away on the record. It is still in its early stages of recording but is set to sound stonkingly big which is scary and brilliant. I am working with Nellee Hooper who has a great history of incredible records and totally understands my thinking which is a real gift! I’m very excited about it all. I hope it means that next year will be extra special and extra enjoyable for all of us.

I have also been avidly watching This Is England which as you all know is my fave show on TV and they just did an xmas special. You can watch it on 4od. Be warned it is pretty hard going but I haven’t cried so much in ages. I am stunned by how incredibly talented those actors are and how brilliant a director Shane Meadows is. Makes you think I suppose,about love, and how you really have to keep the ones you love close and cherish what you have with them because there is so much hardship in the world. I think its a good time to think about it. My friend and backing singer Baby Sol has been doing a lot of work with Amnesty International recently about the problems in the Congo and I have been thinking a lot about collective responsibility. We are not alone despite what we may think and there is so much love and joy out there but unfortunately is coexists with a lot of hardship and sadness. So this christmas my focus will be on love. And the knowledge that we are all part of one thing. There’s no need to put out any more negativity in the world. There’s enough of it as it is. So let’s all try and have a nice time and help others if they can’t. Tell everyone you love that you love them,so they know.
